What AED 1,500 actually buys on the water

AED 1,500 buys a two-hour private charter on a 48ft yacht in Dubai Marina for up to twelve guests, with the captain, crew, fuel, marina fees, water, soft drinks and ice all included. Split across a full boat that is AED 125 a head — less than dinner — and it is the cheapest genuine charter on this coast.

The short version

  • AED 1,500 is two hours on a 48ft yacht for up to 12 guests, all-in.
  • That is AED 125 per person on a full boat, or AED 750 each for two people.
  • It does not include a swim stop — anchoring needs three hours, from AED 2,250.
  • Anything advertised under AED 1,000 for a private boat is almost always a per-seat shared cruise.

What is inside the number

The rate is per boat and per hour, and the hour runs berth to berth. Two hours on our 48ft is AED 750 an hour, so AED 1,500, and nothing is added at the end. That matters more than it sounds, because the most common way a Dubai charter quote turns out cheaper than it is involves fuel and marina fees arriving separately.

For that money you get the whole boat. Not a section of a deck, not a seat with a number — the boat, its captain and its crew, for two hours, with nobody else aboard.

  • Captain and crew for the full two hours
  • Fuel for the agreed route, and all marina and departure fees
  • Chilled water, soft drinks and ice
  • Bluetooth sound system, shaded aft deck and a flybridge
  • Life jackets in adult and children's sizes, and towels

What two hours actually covers

Out through the Marina channel at low speed, which takes about twelve minutes and is where most of the photographs happen. Then past Bluewaters and under Ain Dubai, along the JBR shoreline, and a turn towards the Palm before heading back.

You will not reach Atlantis and turn round comfortably in two hours, and you will not anchor. Both need three. If a swim stop is the point of the day, book the extra hour rather than trying to compress it — the crew will tell you the same thing.

Where the money goes if you spend more

The next AED 750 buys the third hour, and it buys the best part of the charter: forty minutes at anchor in the flat water behind the Palm crescent, with the ladder down, snorkels out and the engines off. Of every upgrade on the price list, this is the one that changes the day most.

After that, the money buys size rather than time. AED 1,050 an hour moves you to a 55ft for sixteen guests with a proper saloon; AED 1,400 to a 62ft for twenty-two. Neither is a better two hours — they are a bigger guest list.

  • AED 1,500 — 2 hours, 48ft, 12 guests, no swim stop
  • AED 2,250 — 3 hours, 48ft, 12 guests, one swim stop
  • AED 2,100 — 2 hours, 55ft, 16 guests, air-conditioned saloon
  • AED 4,200 — 3 hours, 62ft, 22 guests

What AED 1,500 does not buy

Food beyond drinks. You may bring your own at no charge on any boat and most groups do; catering arranged through us starts at AED 120 a head. Alcohol is by prior arrangement and subject to UAE law.

It also does not buy a weekend sunset slot in January at short notice. Those are the most contested hours in the Dubai calendar and they go two to three weeks ahead. The same AED 1,500 midweek in June buys the same boat with the sea at its flattest.

FAQ

Questions people ask

What is the cheapest yacht charter in Dubai?
AED 1,500 for a two-hour private charter on a 48ft yacht carrying up to twelve guests, including crew, fuel, marina fees and drinks. Below that price you are almost certainly looking at a shared cruise sold per seat rather than a private boat.
Is AED 1,500 for a yacht in Dubai a good price?
For a whole 48ft boat with crew for two hours, yes — it is the market floor for a private charter here. Split twelve ways it is AED 125 each. For two people it is AED 750 each, at which point a shared dhow cruise at AED 99 a head is far better value.
Can you swim on a two-hour charter?
No. Two hours is spent under way because there is not enough time to reach a sheltered anchorage, anchor properly and get everyone back aboard. Swimming needs three hours, from AED 2,250.
Are there hidden costs on a Dubai yacht charter?
There should not be. Fuel, crew, marina and departure fees are inside the hourly rate on a properly quoted charter. Anything extra — catering, decoration, a photographer, jet skis alongside — is agreed in writing before the day.
How many people can go on a AED 1,500 charter?
Up to twelve, which is the licensed limit on the 48ft and includes children and infants. The number comes from the vessel licence rather than the deck space, and a captain cannot exceed it.
