Dubai sets off fireworks in several places at midnight — Burj Khalifa, Atlantis and the Palm, Bluewaters — and from a boat anchored off the coast you can see more than one at once. That is the whole case for doing this on the water rather than from a rooftop, and it is a good one.
The evening runs long. Boarding is usually around 19:00, the boat runs out and anchors before the water gets busy, dinner is served at anchor, and you sit through midnight before coming back around 01:30. Getting back into the Marina after the fireworks takes time because everyone leaves at once.
Pricing on the 31st is not hourly and it is not comparable to any other night of the year. Ask early. September and October are when the good boats and the good anchorages get taken, and by the second week of December there is very little left.
