Anniversary celebrations on the water in Dubai
The simplest anniversary idea in Dubai that is not a restaurant is a private sunset charter, from AED 1,500 for two hours with the whole boat to yourselves. Flowers, a cake, dinner at anchor and a photographer are all arranged on top, and the crew are briefed to stay out of the way.

Every good restaurant in Dubai is full of other people's anniversaries. A boat is not, and that is most of the appeal — for two hours the only people around are you and a crew who have been told to be invisible.
The default is a two-hour sunset charter: out through the Marina about ninety minutes before the sun goes, along JBR, turned so the light falls on your side of the boat, then back through the lit channel. It costs about the same as dinner for two somewhere good and it is not comparable.
For a milestone — a tenth, a twentieth — three hours with dinner served at anchor is worth the extra. We anchor in the flat water behind the Palm crescent, the caterer comes aboard beforehand, and the boat does not move again until you say so.
