Yacht maintenance and management in Dubai
Running a mid-size yacht in Dubai costs between AED 90,000 and AED 160,000 a year before you sail it, once berthing, insurance, servicing, annual haul-out and crew are counted. Management takes those pieces off an owner's desk, and for owners who sail rarely, charter management can cover most of the bill.
- Berthing, 55ft
- AED 40,000 – 70,000 a year
- Insurance
- AED 8,000 – 20,000 a year
- Haul-out and antifoul
- AED 12,000 – 25,000 a year
- Engine servicing
- AED 10,000 – 20,000 a year
The costs that catch new owners are not the ones in the brochure. A berth for a 55ft boat in a Dubai marina runs AED 40,000 to AED 70,000 a year depending on the marina. Insurance is AED 8,000 to AED 20,000. Annual haul-out, antifoul and anodes are AED 12,000 to AED 25,000. Engine servicing on twin diesels is AED 10,000 to AED 20,000. A part-time boat boy is AED 1,500 a month.
Heat and salinity are harsher here than in the Mediterranean, and boats that are washed weekly last markedly longer than boats that are not. Gelcoat, upholstery, canvas and electronics all age faster in Dubai, which makes routine care less optional than owners expect.
Charter management is the arrangement most part-time owners end up in: the boat joins a working fleet, is maintained to charter standard, and earns against its running costs while you keep priority use of it. It is not free money — a chartered boat wears faster — but it changes the annual arithmetic substantially.

What is included
- Scheduled engine, generator and system servicing
- Weekly wash, interior care and pre-departure checks
- Annual haul-out, antifoul, anode and prop work
- Berth management, insurance renewal and registration
- Transport, towing and dry storage between seasons
Worth knowing
- Weekly washing is the single highest-value maintenance item in this climate. Nothing else comes close.
- Chartering a boat earns money and wears it faster. The revenue share should reflect that, and ours does.
- Insurance premiums here are sensitive to where the boat is berthed, not only to its value.

FAQ
Questions people ask
- How much does it cost to maintain a yacht in Dubai?
- Between AED 90,000 and AED 160,000 a year for a mid-size yacht, covering berthing at AED 40,000 to 70,000, insurance at AED 8,000 to 20,000, annual haul-out at AED 12,000 to 25,000, engine servicing at AED 10,000 to 20,000 and a part-time boat boy at AED 18,000.
- How much is a marina berth in Dubai?
- AED 40,000 to AED 70,000 a year for a 55ft boat, depending on the marina. Dubai Marina and Dubai Harbour sit at the upper end; berths further along the coast cost less and are harder to reach.
- What is charter management for a yacht?
- Your boat joins a working charter fleet, is maintained to charter standard, and earns revenue against its running costs while you keep priority use of it. It suits owners who sail fewer than twenty days a year.
- Does the Dubai climate damage boats?
- It is harder on a boat than the Mediterranean. Heat and salinity age gelcoat, upholstery, canvas and electronics faster, and boats washed weekly last visibly longer than boats that are not. Routine care matters more here.
- Can you arrange boat transport and storage in Dubai?
- Yes — road transport within the UAE, towing when something fails, and dry storage between seasons. All arranged through the same schedule as servicing rather than as separate emergencies.
