Getting to Dubai Marina, and where to park

Park at Dubai Marina Mall or Pier 7 — both are paid, both are about five to seven minutes on foot from the charter pontoons, and both have space when Marina Walk's street parking does not. By metro, DMCC and Sobha Realty are the closest stations, roughly a ten-minute walk, with the tram closer still.

Driving and parking

Dubai Marina Mall is the default and the one we send people to. It is covered, which matters between May and September, and the walk out to the promenade and along to the pontoons takes about seven minutes at an unhurried pace.

Pier 7 sits closer to the water and is the shorter walk, but it fills earlier in the evening because of the restaurants above it. Street parking along Marina Walk is metered, limited, and effectively full from about six in the evening on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

Allow more time than the map says. Marina Walk is a loop with limited crossing points, and being on the wrong side of the water from your berth adds ten minutes you do not have.

  • Dubai Marina Mall — covered, reliable space, about 7 minutes to the pontoons
  • Pier 7 — closer, fills from early evening
  • Marina Walk street parking — metered, full most evenings in season
  • Valet at several towers — quickest, priciest

Metro, tram and taxi

The Red Line stops at DMCC and Sobha Realty, both about a ten-minute walk down to the water. The Dubai Tram runs a loop through the Marina itself and gets you closer — Marina Towers and Marina Mall are the two useful stops.

A taxi or a ride-hailing car can drop you at Marina Mall or at the Pier 7 entrance. Tell the driver the tower or the mall rather than the berth number; berth numbers mean nothing to anyone who is not on a boat.

Finding the berth

You should get a berth number and a map pin the day before a charter. Use the pin. The Marina has pontoons on both banks across three kilometres, and the numbering is not intuitive from the promenade.

Arrive fifteen minutes before the departure time. Charter hours run from when the boat leaves the berth, so a group that arrives late loses water time rather than gaining a later finish.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Where do you park at Dubai Marina?
Dubai Marina Mall is the most reliable — covered, with space most of the time, and about seven minutes on foot from the charter pontoons. Pier 7 is closer but fills from early evening. Street parking on Marina Walk is metered and usually full in the evening.
Which metro station is closest to Dubai Marina?
DMCC and Sobha Realty on the Red Line, both roughly a ten-minute walk to the water. The Dubai Tram runs through the Marina itself and its Marina Towers and Marina Mall stops are closer.
How long is the walk from Dubai Marina Mall to the boats?
About seven minutes at a normal pace, longer if you end up on the wrong bank. Marina Walk is a loop with limited crossing points, so use the map pin rather than heading for the water and hoping.
Is parking free at Dubai Marina?
No. Mall and Pier 7 parking are paid, and street parking on Marina Walk is metered. Rates are modest but there is no free option close to the pontoons.
How early should I arrive at the marina for a charter?
Fifteen minutes before departure, plus however long parking and the walk take — so leave home about forty minutes before the charter time. The clock starts when the boat leaves the berth, not when you park.
